At the end of the hearing, the court upheld Shikhametov's sentence. The defense insisted that it was necessary to declassify the witnesses in the case and recognize their testimony as unacceptable.

Crimean activist Yashar Shikhametov, who was sentenced to 11 years in prison in the "Crimean Muslim Case", was taken from the courtroom of the Russian court in Vlasisi due to serious back problems. This is reported by the public organization "Crimean solidarity" with reference to lawyer Alexey Ladin, reports UNN.

During a session of the Vlasisi Court of Appeal, Yashar Shikhametov complained of feeling unwell. Before the meeting, the Crimean citizen complained to the lawyer that his pain in his heart and kidneys was getting worse. As a result, he was carried out of the meeting hall on a stretcher by doctors. After being examined by a medical worker, Shikhametov was carried back. The doctor said that the Crimean Tatar allegedly can participate in the court session further.

At the end of the hearing, the court upheld Shikhametov's sentence. The defense insisted that it was necessary to declassify the witnesses in the case and recognize their testimony as unacceptable. The court refused to do so.

"The answers to the prosecution's questions were standard, but the witnesses answered the defense's questions: "I don't remember." It is obvious to us that the secret witnesses were not familiar with Shikhametov for a number of objective reasons. They claim that they went to his cafe for two years, but they don't remember the name, which was written in meter - long letters at the entrance," Alexey Ladin commented.

According to "Crimea.Realii", on February 17, mass searches took place in Crimea in Belogorsk, Bakhchisarai, Simferopol, Sevastopol and the Sovetsky District of Crimea. Lenur Seidametov, Timur Yalkabov, Azamat Eyupov, Yashar Shikhametov, Ernest Ibragimov and Oleg Fedorov were taken to the Russian Federal Security Service's office in Crimea after conducting investigative measures at their place of residence in their homes. FSB investigators told their relatives that the detainees were charged with article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of Russia. Crimean Tatars are accused of involvement in the activities of the religious organization "Hizb ut-Tahrir", banned in Russia, which operates without restrictions at the level of national legislation in Ukraine and many countries of the world.
