Despite the information spread on social media, Romanian air defense systems did not shoot down Russian “Shakhty” during one of the latest Russian attacks on Ukraine. This was stated by the Romanian Ministry of Defense, UNN reports.
Details
The ministry said that the social network X and other platforms spread information that allegedly the Romanian army's air defense systems deployed on the border with Ukraine opened fire on Russian drones. The network stated that the Shaheds were allegedly destroyed by Gepard anti-aircraft guns.
In turn, the Romanian Ministry of Defense denied this information.
This so-called “information” has no real basis in fact. The attacks carried out by the Russian Federation were aimed at Ukrainian port infrastructure on the Danube, not at the territory of Romania, and the forces and means of the Ministry of Defense deployed near the border with Ukraine did not fire at the Russian attack vehicles
Recall
Romania said it found fragments of Russian drones on its territory on Thursday. In turn, NATO responded that it sees no signs of a deliberate attack on the alliance's territory.
