Details
The match at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, kicked off at 8:00 PM.
Japan opened the scoring first: in the 28th minute, Kaishu Sano intercepted the ball in midfield, carried it into Brazil's penalty area, and opened the scoring with a precise shot - 1:0.
In the 56th minute, Brazil managed to equalize: Gabriel delivered a cross to the far post, and Casemiro headed the ball into the net - 1:1.
The outcome of the match was decided a minute before the final whistle: after a prolonged attack by Brazil, which the Japanese seemed to have neutralized, the ball near the penalty area bounced to Bruno Guimarães, who moved to the center and with a delicate pass found Gabriel Martinelli in Japan's box, who shot accurately into the corner past Zion Suzuki. The Japanese goalkeeper, although he got a hand to the ball, could not save it - 2:1.
Thus, Brazil secures a comeback victory and advances to the Round of 16, where they will face the winner of the pair - Ivory Coast vs. Norway (June 30).
The Round of 16 match featuring Brazil will take place on July 5.
Today, the German national team will face Paraguay (at 11:30 PM), and on the morning of June 30, the Netherlands will play against Morocco (kickoff at 4:00 AM).
