Bloomberg: EU may impose sanctions on a number of companies supplying goods to the russian army

The EU is considering imposing sanctions on more than 10 companies from russia, Turkey, the UAE, China, and Hong Kong for importing millions of euros worth of banned European goods for use by the russian military-defense complex, despite significant trade restrictions.

The EU is considering imposing sanctions on more than 10 companies that have cooperated with russia and imported goods there despite the ban. This is stated in the draft document, which was reviewed by Bloomberg, reports UNN.

It is noted that companies located in russia, as well as Turkey, the UAE, China and Hong Kong, despite significant EU trade restrictions, imported banned European goods worth millions of euros for use by the russian military-defense complex.

As Bloomberg noted , the imports include technologies related to navigation systems for missiles, antennas made in the EU, and components used in military computers.

Preliminarily, most of this equipment is labeled with the EU or US markings, and these companies help ensure technological improvement of the russian army.

The document also indicates that some of the firms that the EU may impose restrictions on have previously been subject to US sanctions.

The publication adds that  EU countries will start discussing a new package of sanctions later this week.

In addition, the European Union is considering possible sanctions  against a small number of Chinese and Hong Kong companies suspected of providing satellite imagery and other technologies to russia, the agency said.

According to the document, several of the companies under consideration for possible sanctions are located outside of russia, but have ties to russian and Belarusian individuals and companies.
