At least 44 people have died as a result of floods and landslides caused by monsoon rains in southeastern Bangladesh. Reuters reports, writes UNN.

According to authorities, the disaster has affected seven provinces of the country, disrupting the daily lives of more than one million people. Floodwaters have submerged about 268,000 households, and thousands of families have been cut off from the outside world.
The floods also caused power outages, damaged roads and communication lines, complicating rescue operations. Due to the flooding of homes, many residents were unable to cook food for several days.
