Apple will stop selling the iPhone SE and iPhone 14 due to EU requirements for USB-C ports starting in 2025. The company does not plan to re-release these models with a new port, instead focusing on future versions.

Apple will stop selling the iPhone SE and iPhone 14 series by the end of the year due to new EU requirements for USB-C charging ports that come into effect in 2025.

Apple will stop selling the iPhone SE and iPhone 14 series at the end of the year due to the introduction of the EU's requirement for a universal USB-C charging port, which comes into effect in January 2025.

At the moment, the third-generation iPhone SE, iPhone 14, and iPhone 14 Plus remain the oldest phones with Lightning port that Apple sells directly. Since these models do not meet the new EU standards, the company decided to stop their production earlier than planned.

Although Apple could have re-released these devices with USB-C ports, it chose a different path and focused on future models. Thus, in the spring of 2025, the fourth-generation iPhone SE is expected to be released with a USB-C port, an edge-to-edge screen, an improved camera, and a design similar to the iPhone 14.

According to a typical schedule, the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus would have remained on sale until the launch of the iPhone 17 next fall. Thus, due to the new requirements, Apple loses about a year of sales of these models in the EU.

Outside of the EU, the third-generation iPhone SE and the 14 series will likely remain on sale until the new SE is released and until the end of 2025, respectively. After that, the era of Lightning ports in Apple devices will be over for good.
