An earthquake with a magnitude of about 5.0 occurred in southern Italy on Thursday, according to monitoring agencies, and was felt over a large area, Reuters reports, UNN reports.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located near the city of Cosenza in the Calabria region and occurred at 22:43 Kyiv time, according to the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology of Italy (INGV), which assigned the quake a magnitude of 5.0.
The German Research Center for Geological Sciences (GFZ) initially determined the magnitude of the earthquake as 5.3, but then revised it downward to 4.6.
There were no reports of serious damage, Reuters noted.
