The State Bureau of Investigation said on Monday that it had served suspicion notices to the organizers of the purchase of low-quality first aid kits for the military worth almost UAH 60 million, UNN reports.

"SBI employees, in cooperation with the SBU, served a notice of suspicion to the former head of one of the military training centers, the head of the medical service of this center and eight private entrepreneurs on the fact of supplying low-quality military first aid kits," the SBI said.
According to the Bureau, it was found that the training center and entrepreneurs signed eight contracts for the supply of 30,773 first aid kits totaling UAH 58.5 million.
"At the same time, military officials failed to control the quality of the supplied first aid kits. Subsequently, the examination confirmed that the first aid kits did not meet the established standards, did not have the proper components, and the available drugs were of inadequate quality. Thus, the use of the contents of such first aid kits could harm the health of our servicemen," the SBI reported.
According to the Bureau, the state suffered UAH 58.5 million in damages as a result of the supply of low-quality products.
"The former head of the training center was notified of suspicion of inaction of the military authorities (part 4 of article 426 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), the head of the medical training center - of negligence in military service (part 4 of article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)," the statement said.
The sanction of the articles provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 8 to 10 years.
The private entrepreneurs who supplied the low-quality first aid kits, as indicated, were notified of suspicion of large-scale fraud.
