The building engulfed in flames measures 680 by 120 meters. Eyewitnesses report thick black smoke, while the smell of burning can be detected several kilometers from the site of the fire.

According to Astra, the fire was assigned the fourth level of complexity. Rescuers and Emergencies Ministry aircraft are working at the scene; the cause of the fire is currently being established.
An eyewitness who provided the publication with video from the scene said that the authorities had not announced a drone or missile threat alert in Saint Petersburg. According to the eyewitness, there were also no sounds of drones or air defense systems operating near the site of the fire.
