An armed man wearing a mask robbed a store in Kyiv of 11 thousand hryvnias. The police detained the 30-year-old foreigner, who was staying in a hotel in the capital, within an hour, and now he faces up to 15 years in prison, the Kyiv police department reported, UNN reported.

A 61-year-old local resident reported a robbery to the Kyiv police. The woman said that she works as a cashier in a grocery store and that a few minutes ago an unknown masked man broke into the premises, threatened her with a weapon and took money from the cash register.
According to the police, a masked and armed offender entered a market on Andriyivskyy Descent and, threatening the saleswoman with a gun, broke the cash register with a crowbar and fled with the "proceeds" of UAH 11,000.
In less than an hour, the operatives tracked down and detained the 30-year-old attacker with material evidence.
"The operatives, with the help of criminal analysis specialists, tracked down the attacker in hot pursuit near the month of the crime on one of Podil's streets. It took us less than an hour. The attacker was a 30-year-old foreigner who has been living in Kyiv in a hotel since September this year. During the search, investigators seized a pistol, a crowbar he used to break the cash register, and eleven thousand hryvnias of the proceeds," said Denys Silochi, head of the criminal police.
The man was detained and served a notice of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code - robbery. The defendant was taken into custody and faces up to 15 years in prison.
