In one of the medical facilities in Odesa, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with soldiers who are being treated and undergoing rehabilitation after injuries, reports UNN with reference to the Office of the President.
The head of state spoke with defenders who took part in deterring the occupiers and counteroffensive actions in Kherson and the region, in Dnipropetrovsk region, Mykolaiv region, in particular defending the Kinburn Spit and the port of Odesa. In battles, the soldiers sustained multiple shrapnel wounds and severe injuries to the musculoskeletal system.
"I am glad to see you. Thank you for your service, for protecting our state, for your feats. We are proud of you and wish you a speedy recovery," Zelenskyy said.
The President awarded the defenders with Orders "For Courage" of the I and III degrees, medals "For Military Service to Ukraine" and "Defender of the Fatherland".
In addition, Zelenskyy spoke with medics who performed successful high-tech operations on soldiers with severe injuries, provided surgical assistance to wounded soldiers in combat conditions, and carried out evacuations in Kherson region, Mykolaiv region, and Sumy region.
The head of state awarded five medics with the Order of Daniel of Galicia and medals "For Military Service to Ukraine".
