Zelensky was asked to comment on his alleged change of position on the ceasefire. That he allegedly said that Ukraine could accept a cease-fire.
"I didn't say it would be good for Ukraine. I said that if there is a frozen conflict without any strong position for Ukraine, then Putin will come in 2.3, 5 years.I do not know. It's not up to us. he will come back and he will destroy us completely, completely. He will try to destroy us," Zelensky said.
The president noted that before the start of the negotiation process, Ukraine's positions should be strengthened with the support of partners.
"The most important thing that was in our victory plan was a package of weapons, including a good figure, a sufficient figure about long – range missiles and various points that were prescribed," Zelensky said.
According to him, it is important to have an agenda for such a negotiation process, then it is possible to start it.
"When we have this list, then we can sit down and communicate. Who will be at this negotiating table – the Russians, Ukraine and, as I said, the European Union and NATO, because we see ourselves as a part of the security system in these unions, both in the EU and in NATO. In this format, I understand when we can sit down, what we will talk about, because I will understand who is around us and what we can agree on," Zelensky said.
Zelensky stressed that it is possible to negotiate with Russia if it does not want to see Ukraine as an independent country in the future.
"By the way, I think that the most difficult issue that we will need to solve, because the person who will sit opposite is Russia, if they do not want, do not want to see Ukraine as an independent country in the future, then what can we negotiate with such a person? This is my position. But I want to say whether Ukraine will be part of the EU or NATO, I do not know. I do not know who will decide. Can we be under the NATO security umbrella? Yes, I support it. If it happens tomorrow, I support it. If we speak globally, of course, there should be an invitation to the entire territory," Zelensky said.
