Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak spoke at the first meeting of the International Coalition for the Return of Deported Ukrainian Children. He emphasized that Russia is destroying Ukrainian identity, so it is necessary to develop effective tools to return abducted children home as soon as possible, UNN reports .
Russians are creating systems that are aimed at destroying any memories of Ukraine in children. These children are being turned against Ukraine, against our culture, our language. Every day they are saturated with fake news, disinformation, they are told that their parents were killed or that their parents have abandoned them and are not looking for them. The living conditions are extremely poor. This is genocide. And the most dangerous thing is that in the twenty-first century there are no real levers of influence, no international organizations, no mechanisms to bring these children home
Details
The head of the President's Office said that Russia is hiding data on children abducted in Ukraine and ignoring the international community's requests for information. In this regard, Ukraine has almost no reliable information about the fate of young Ukrainians.
Therefore, he called on the coalition members to work on creating mechanisms for the identification, restoration of documents, and physical return of children to Ukraine.
Andriy Yermak also noted that each such crime against Ukrainian children should be documented in detail as evidence for future investigations not only in Ukraine but also in the International Criminal Court.
To recap
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy also emphasized the need for urgent action to return hundreds of thousands of deported Ukrainian children at the first meeting of the International Coalition.
