In April, Ukraine did not suspend the protection of rights, but rather removed reservations about the restriction of a number of rights. This was reported by Minister of Justice Denys Malyuska on his Facebook page, commenting on his ministry's statement to the Council of Europe on a partial temporary derogation from the European Convention on Human Rights, UNN reports.
Today the day started with news from telegram channels: "we have suspended the protection of the right to property and free elections. I started calling my colleagues to find out what we had managed to suspend in the third year of the war, and without my knowledge. I report: nothing! We did indeed send a notification about the possibility of applying restrictions on certain rights almost immediately after the introduction of martial law in 2022 - this is part of our international obligations (similar notifications have been sent since 2015)
He noted that this is not a know-how and that all countries at war do this, except for Russia, of course, whose human rights record is always bad.
In April 2024, we once again clarified the list of existing restrictions and reduced it. (Periodic review of our notifications and possible restrictions is also our international obligation). Again: In April, Ukraine did not suspend protection, but rather revised and withdrew reservations on the restriction of a certain set of rights
Addendum
Earlier, reportedthat the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine has updated the list of rights and freedoms that can be restricted in Ukraine and informed the European Council about it.
