Details

According to Lubinets, Elvin Kadyrov, a representative of the rights of residents of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, took part in the tenth annual conference on the rights of national minorities in Turkey.

During the conversation with the officials, Elvin Kadyrov spoke about human rights violations in the temporarily occupied Crimea committed by Russia. In particular, he spoke about the violation of freedom of speech and the ban on peaceful assemblies, repressions against Crimean Tatars in the field of studying their native language and numerous arbitrary arrests for political and religious reasons.

“...  emphasized that the Russians continue to torture illegally convicted Ukrainian citizens and do not provide proper medical care to prisoners, which has resulted in the deaths of two Crimean political prisoners in Russian prisons.

Elvin Kadyrov noted that today more than 40 illegally convicted citizens of Ukraine, most of whom are representatives of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people, are in dire need of medical care,” Lubinets added.

In conclusion, Kadyrov provided the participants of the meetings with the lists of seriously ill Crimean political prisoners, so that the Republic of Turkey could assist in obtaining medical care and in further actions for their release, the Ombudsman summarized.
