The Cabinet of Ministers has approved an action plan to reform local government and territorial organization of power in Ukraine for 2024-2027. This was announced on Tuesday by the government's representative in parliament, Taras Melnychuk, on Telegram, UNN reports.

According to Melnychuk, the plan defines measures, deadlines and bodies responsible for their implementation to implement the tasks of th
- settlement of certain issues of administrative and territorial organization;
- reformatting local state administrations into prefectural-type bodies;
- restoration of the activities of local governments and executive authorities in the de-occupied territories;
- delimitation of powers of local self-government bodies and executive authorities on the principle of subsidiarity;
- Strengthening the financial capacity of local governments to ensure the exercise of their statutory powers;
- formation of a professional competitive service in local governments;
- creation of preconditions for involving residents in local decision-making, development of forms of direct democracy;
- strengthening the institutional capacity of local government associations.

The draft law on local administrations is being prepared for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada. The draft law establishes administrative supervision over decisions of local self-government bodies and proposes a new mechanism for selecting and appointing heads of local state administrations.
