Britain has allocated more than $9.5 million (£7.5 million) in military aid to Ukraine, which will be spent on new strike and reconnaissance drones, reports UNN citing a British government report.
“Today the Government is announcing further military support of £7.5 million of funding for new strike and reconnaissance drones, to be invested through a drone coalition led by the UK and Latvia and drawn from the £3 billion annual funding pool. This is on top of the £120m of funding announced by the prime minister last month for Ukraine's naval and maritime capabilities, which will fund unmanned surface craft and ISR maritime drones,” it said.
In addition, in a show of unity between the UK and its allies, the drone coalition will receive an additional £16 million from countries including Germany (£10 million), Canada (£3 million) and Luxembourg (£3 million) that have pledged to purchase drones through the coalition.
This brings the total fund to £67 million, including a total of £15 million from the UK, according to the British government.
“This additional support provides another significant boost to the capabilities of Ukraine's Armed Forces in the face of Putin's illegal war of aggression. Over the weekend, Russia fired more than 120 missiles and 90 drones at Ukrainian infrastructure, killing civilians in eastern Ukraine,” the British government summarized.
