Anchor trace found in Gulf of Finland that damaged cableThe Finnish Central Criminal Police said that a trace of a drag several kilometers long was found at the bottom of the Gulf of Finland. This was reported by Yle, UNN reports.

The trail is tens of kilometers long. So far, it has not been possible to establish exactly where the anchor was dropped,

- the statement said.

Police inspector Sami Paila told the newspaper that the trail ends where the ship picked up the anchor chain, and from that point eastward it stretches for several dozen, if not almost a hundred kilometers.

According to him, law enforcement officers assume that the anchor of the Eagle S vessel left this trail. "We were able to find out thanks to underwater research. The work was carried out in cooperation between the Border Guard Service and the Central Criminal Police, and I can say that we have a preliminary understanding of what happened at sea and how this anchor trail was formed," Paila said.

He added that the seabed exploration had to be suspended due to bad weather conditions: "The wind is too strong now, but when the sea calms down, we will continue to explore the seabed.
