The shooting at a school in Zakarpattia is being investigated as a terrorist act. It was preliminarily established that the teenager was following instructions from unknown individuals via a messenger, who threatened to harm his relatives, UNN reports with reference to the Zakarpattia Oblast police.
According to preliminary data, the teenager may have acted under the influence and psychological pressure of unidentified individuals with whom he communicated through one of the messengers, and met through an online game. In particular, he reported receiving threats of harm to his relatives if he did not comply with the demands.
It was also established that the pistol used is a blank gun, converted into a firearm.
Currently, investigative actions are underway to establish all the circumstances of the incident and the persons involved in its organization. The police are also checking the communication channels through which the minor was influenced.
The incident was classified under Part 1 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - a terrorist act. The pre-trial investigation is being carried out under the procedural guidance of the Uzhhorod District Prosecutor's Office.
Context
Earlier today, a 15-year-old student fired several shots from a pistol while at school, injuring a classmate. The victim received medical assistance, his life and health are not in danger, and the shooter, who fled after the incident, was stopped by patrol police within minutes.
Subsequently, investigators detained the minor in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
