The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets said that the electronic cabinet of persons liable for military service will help simplify the acquisition of veteran status during martial law. He stated this in his Telegram channel, UNN reports.
Details
It is noted that on April 4, the Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on Improving the Procedure for Processing and Using Data in State Registers for Military Registration and Acquiring the Status of a War Veteran During Martial Law" came into force.
I, as the Ombudsman of Ukraine, welcome this decision, as its provisions simplify the procedure for obtaining the status of a combatant during martial law, a person with a disability as a result of war and a family member of the deceased Defenders of Ukraine
He said that the Ombudsman's Office was actively involved in the development of the provisions of this Law of Ukraine. According to him, the document provides for:
- the opportunity to submit an application (request) to the relevant state authorities in paper or electronic form in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Peculiarities of Providing Public (Electronic Public) Services", in particular, through the Unified State Web Portal of Electronic Services and/or the Unified State Register of War Veterans to obtain the status of a combatant, a person with a disability as a result of war and a family member of the deceased Defenders of Ukraine;
- establishing the peculiarities of acquiring the status of a combatant during martial law on the basis of a certificate of direct participation of a person in measures necessary to ensure the defense of Ukraine, protection of the security of the population and the interests of the state in connection with the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, issued in electronic form.
If there is enough information in the register of war veterans, the status of combatant will be granted automatically
According to him, within a month, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine should bring its regulations in line with this law.
