The arsenal of Ukraine’s Defense Forces has been replenished with the first Ukrainian jet drone interceptor, Alexa Spatium. The unmanned aircraft is designed to destroy small-sized airborne, ground and surface targets and has already confirmed its stated specifications during testing. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, as reported by UNN.
The arsenal of the Defense Forces has been replenished with Ukraine’s first jet interceptor, Alexa Spatium. Thorough airspace control, a high maximum speed, a significant flight ceiling, dynamic controllability, and precision guidance and strike capabilities. The arsenal of Ukraine’s Defense Forces has been replenished with the first Ukrainian jet drone interceptor, Alexa Spatium
According to the ministry, this is a high-speed jet-powered unmanned aircraft developed by Ukrainian engineers specifically to destroy small-sized airborne, ground and surface targets in real combat conditions.
The interceptor is intended to strike Russian airborne kamikaze UAVs: "Geran-3," "Geran-4," "Geran-5" and "Shahed-131".
The system can also be used to strike reconnaissance drones, helicopters and other individual targets. During testing, the interceptor confirmed the tactical and technical characteristics stated by the manufacturer – the post says.
In particular, according to the available information, the drone has the following features:
- a powerful turbojet engine;
- a high flight ceiling;
- a considerable combat radius;
- a wide flight range – from low to medium altitudes;
- flexible combat-use tactics – according to pre-set coordinates or in direct-guidance mode;
- a choice of warheads – high-explosive fragmentation, shaped-charge and thermobaric;
- high maneuverability in flight;
- fully remote preparation and launch;
- a high maximum speed and low minimum speed to conserve fuel;
- effective search-and-targeting systems: television and infrared.
In addition, Alexa Spatium has reliable control and video-transmission systems.
The drone is approximately 1.5 by 1.7 meters in size and is launched from a mobile catapult within a few minutes. It is made of a lightweight and durable composite material, allowing it to perform sharp maneuvers without losing controllability. The warhead’s mass ensures the effective engagement of a wide range of airborne targets. An unmanned aerial vehicle that has not completed its mission can return to the launch site and be used again
Among Alexa Spatium’s key advantages in intercepting Russian drones, the Ministry of Defense names:
- speed of response – the jet platform ensures an оперативе response, deployment of the system and mission completion;
- resilience to demanding operating conditions;
- engineering readiness – minimal requirements for preparing the position;
- process automation;
- modular design.
As well as high mobility, since the system can easily fit in a pickup truck.
We remind you
Vector and Reliant unmanned aerial vehicles from Quantum Systems have been equipped with a new SAR radar, allowing reconnaissance in rain, fog and darkness. It is unknown whether these drones will be supplied to Ukraine, but the company has production capacity in the country.
