The Conservative Party in the United Kingdom has elected Cami Badenoch as its new leader, becoming the first black woman to lead a major British political party. This is reported by AR, UNN writes.

It is noted that 53,806 party members voted for Badenoch and 41,388 voted for former Immigration Minister Robert Jenrick .
As Tory leader, Badenoch will replace Rishi Sunak, who in July led the Conservatives to their worst election result since 1832. Back then, the Conservatives lost more than 200 seats, reducing their number to 121.
In an address to party members, Badenok thanked her predecessor, adding that "no one has worked so hard in such difficult times.
The new Conservative leader emphasized that the party now faces several key tasks, including "holding this Labor government to account" and "preparing to govern over the next few years.
Badenoch served as Minister of Trade in the Sunak government.
