Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said that the attack on Iryna Farion was classified as an attempted murder, UNN reports.
"The attack on Iryna Farion is classified as an attempted murder. The victim's condition is serious, doctors are fighting for her life," Klymenko said on Telegram.
According to the minister, police and other necessary services are working at the scene of the shooting.
"They have witness statements and are processing data from video surveillance cameras. The crime is in the active phase. I systematically receive reports from the police leadership on the measures taken and the circumstances established," the Minister summarized.

According to the National Police, the assassination attempt took place today around 19:30 on a street in Lviv. An unknown person fired a gunshot at a 60-year-old woman. Doctors hospitalized the victim with a head wound.
Investigators, operatives, and the leadership of the Lviv regional police are working at the scene. Measures are being taken to identify and detain the shooter, law enforcement officials added.
Although the National Police does not name the public figure, a deputy of the Lviv City Council previously reported an attempt on the life of linguist Iryna Farion.
