The Military Law and Order Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is completing the investigation into possible violations in the 58th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade. Based on certain materials, decisions are being considered to open criminal proceedings regarding violations of military personnel's rights, reports UNN.
What is known so far?
The Military Law and Order Service (VSP) responded to reports regarding possible violations and abuses in the 58th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade of the 14th Army Corps of the Joint Forces grouping.

Thus, in accordance with the management decisions of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the investigation into the situation that has developed in the formation is being completed
The message emphasizes that in the event of confirmation of facts of unlawful actions, the guilty persons will bear responsibility in accordance with the requirements of Ukrainian legislation.

In addition, the message called on media representatives and the public to refrain from disseminating unverified information, evaluative subjective judgments, and premature conclusions that the enemy could use for disinformation campaigns and manipulative information-psychological influence operations.
Arrest
The Military Law and Order Service did not provide a comment on which specific investigation is in question. However, it is known that almost a week ago, law enforcement officers reported a suspicion against the deputy commander of the 58th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade of the military unit in Kharkiv. According to the investigation, he demanded money for facilitating the transfer of a serviceman to another unit.
Under the procedural supervision of the Kharkiv Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the defense sector of the Eastern region, suspicion has been notified to a colonel — deputy commander of the military unit for committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine
According to the investigation, on March 1, 2026, the suspect demanded the transfer of an improper benefit in the amount of 4,000 US dollars for facilitating the transfer to his military unit of a serviceman from another unit.
On April 16, 2026, during the receipt of the second part of the improper benefit in the amount of 2,000 US dollars, the colonel was caught red-handed by law enforcement officers in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine
At the prosecutor's motion, a pre-trial restraint measure in the form of detention with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 998,400 UAH has been applied to the suspect. The suspect's actions are qualified as receiving an improper benefit for himself for influence on decision-making by a person authorized to perform state functions, combined with demanding such a benefit (Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)
Brigade's reaction
The 58th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky confirmed the detention of the official and stated that the brigade command "fully supports and in every way assists the pre-trial investigation.
We are interested in the prompt, comprehensive, and objective establishment of all circumstances of the case. At the same time, we emphasize that in accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine and criminal procedural legislation, the principle of presumption of innocence applies. Any final conclusions regarding a person's guilt are possible exclusively after the completion of a comprehensive investigation and the entry into legal force of the relevant court decision
