The police of Odesa region drew up an administrative report against singer Khrystyna Soloviy for using obscene language, who called the former name of the city "full of sh**" during a performance at the Vylkafest festival in Chornomorsk. This was reported by the hromadske edition, UNN reports.
According to the newspaper, Soloviy criticized the old name of the city, Ilyichevsk, during a speech at the Vylkafest festival in Chornomorsk.
"And tell me, please, just promise that no one will be offended now, I mean it: what was the name of your city before it was renamed? And did you like it? It's complete bullshit," Soloviy said.
"I will buy or accept a copy of the Ukrainian obscene vocabulary as a gift. I can't find it anywhere, it's been sold out by swearing Ukrainians," Soloviy wrote on social network X after the performance.
The artist's words sparked a wave of discussions: some social media users thanked her for drawing attention to the importance of decommunization, while others criticized her for her obscene statements, as children were present at the festival.
Serhiy Gnezdilov, the cultural manager of the Vylkafest festival, told the publication that after this performance, several local residents filed a report with the police for violating public order and using obscene language in public places.
A report was drawn up against Solova under Art. 173 of the Administrative Code - disorderly conduct. The singer faces either a fine, community service, or correctional labor with a 20% deduction of her earnings, or 15 days of administrative arrest.
"Ironically, Soloviy will be tried by the Ilyichevsk City Court, which has retained its old name," said Gnezdilov.
The police noted that they drew up a report because the incident received significant publicity and not all visitors to the event took Soloviy's swearing unequivocally. Some local residents demanded an apology, and the organizers apologized to them, the police said.
According to Gnezdilov, the police initially wanted to draw up an administrative report against the festival organizers. However, Vylkafest explained that the artists themselves are responsible for all statements made on stage. That's why the police invited Khrystyna Soloviy to the police station.
"Unfortunately, there was swearing from the stage, without a discriminator. The position of our festival is that we are not against obscene vocabulary, but we need to talk about it before the performance, to warn the audience: dear, I will swear today. If there are children and you don't want them to hear swearing, please take them out," said Gnezdilov.
He said that the executive director of the festival was also approached by members of the Chornomorsk City Council and threatened to stop the festival, demanding an explanation as to why the event "offends the residents of Illichivsk.
Recall
This is not the first time that Khrystyna Soloviy has been involved in a scandal. In October last year, the parish of St. Andrew's Church in Lviv requested that the video by Khrystyna Soloviy and the band Zhadan i Sobaki, Heart, be removed because it "promotes anti-Christian values.
