Tajik farmers may begin growing oilseeds on the territory of Russia. Negotiations on the implementation of the corresponding project are already underway. This was stated by the Minister of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan, Sherali Kabir, reports UNN citing the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.

According to the head of the relevant ministry of Tajikistan, the initiative is intended to provide raw materials for Tajik processing enterprises and contribute to increasing the production of vegetable oil in the country.
Tajikistan has limited areas for growing oilseeds, but possesses capacities for their processing. Previously, the country annually imported up to 300 thousand tons of oilseeds from Russia. However, the increase in logistics costs has made this trade model less profitable.
Under the proposed format, Tajik farmers can cultivate agricultural lands on the territory of Russia, grow the necessary crops, and transport the harvested yield to Tajikistan for further processing.
The project should allow Tajikistan to utilize its own processing capacities while simultaneously ensuring access to raw materials without the need to purchase them and transport them over significant distances.
The Foreign Intelligence Service explains that such a model of cooperation may indicate the strengthening of the role of Russian agricultural lands as a source of raw materials for the economies of other countries. In particular, Russia has been actively cooperating with China for a long time in the supply of energy resources, timber, and minerals.
