Russian authorities continue to manipulate the issue of nuclear safety, using the occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) as an instrument of blackmail and pressure on Europe.
This is stated in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, reports UNN.

The illegal interference of the Russian side in the functioning of the ZNPP, in particular through centralized control and actions that threaten the technical stability of the facility, is a gross violation of international law and the fundamental principles of nuclear safety
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the Russians are deliberately restricting the work of international observers, including the IAEA, and trying to hide objective information from the world.
The issue of nuclear safety at the ZNPP cannot be considered separately from the issue of illegal control over the station. Any attempts by Russia to portray its presence as normal management are targeted propaganda aimed at concealing the real threat posed by the occupation of the ZNPP
Ukraine also appealed to international partners to step up efforts to stop the nuclear blackmail of the Russians. The only way to restore nuclear safety and stability is to return the Zaporizhzhia NPP to Ukrainian control, the Foreign Ministry said.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) believes that reports of a fuel spill at the storage facilities for diesel generators of the occupied ZNPP are "fake." But the IAEA promises to check the fuel tanks after it gets access there.
