The Russian government has banned the use of IP-telephony in the country and making calls via the network to landline and mobile phone numbers. This decree was published on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Russian Federation, UNN writes with reference to Radio Liberty.

It is reported that the permission for such calls has been excluded from the list of licenses for communication services.
The ban is in place to combat online fraud.
“This type of phone fraud will now be severely curtailed,” the statement said.
The ban does not apply to calls from messengers to messengers. However, Roskomnadzor has previously announced the possibility of introducing a complete ban on receiving calls from abroad.
The restrictions come amid a sharp increase in the number of arson attempts and destruction of infrastructure committed by citizens, allegedly at the request of telephone scammers.
