In Tbilisi and Kutaisi, seven activists were detained after a peaceful protest rally on Rustaveli Avenue. Among the detainees are a well-known pediatrician and a presidential scholarship recipient, and there are also reports of anonymous threats against the protesters.

The protest action in Tbilisi on Rustaveli Avenue last night ended peacefully around 2 AM, with no dispersal and clashes with the police. But at the same time, "silent detentions" of activists continued in Tbilisi and Kutaisi. This is reported by UNN with reference to NEWSGEORGIA.

According to human rights defenders, at least five people were detained in Tbilisi and two in Kutaisi by morning.

Among the detainees is a well-known Tbilisi pediatrician, Konstantine Chakhunashvili. His car was found empty in Saburtalo, after which the family began searching and found the pediatrician in the detention center. He is accused of disobeying the police.

In Vake, the presidential scholarship holder Tornike Mshviladze was detained - after some time he was released, apparently due to his health condition. Mshviladze has a hearing disability and a diagnosed cancer.

Several other people who were leaving the rally were detained in the Stamba area of Tbilisi.

Also, as reported, throughout the night there were anonymous phone calls with threats to people supporting the protests and their family members. Actress Nanka Kalatozishvili angrily wrote that an anonymous caller threatened her 11-year-old child.

Update

The Embassy of Ukraine is in contact with the competent authorities of Georgia in the case of the detention of a presumed Ukrainian citizen among the protesters, but the fact of his citizenship has not yet been confirmed.
