I am deeply saddened by the recent intensification of shelling in Ukraine, which continues to harm the civilian population. I express my solidarity with those who suffer and assure them of my prayers for the entire Ukrainian people. I renew my call for a ceasefire and to choose the path of dialogue.

At the same time, the Holy Father noted that the truce announced in Lebanon "gives grounds for hope." He called on all those who are making efforts to find a diplomatic solution "to continue peace negotiations so that the cessation of hostilities throughout the Middle East becomes final."
