Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, more than 950 thousand Ukrainians have left for Poland. This was stated by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski during a speech in Siemiany, reports POLSKIE RADIO, UNN .
Details
According to him, almost a million Ukrainian citizens have officially arrived in Poland, but the number of Ukrainians in the country is probably many times higher.
As of the end of last year, more than 950 thousand Ukrainians found long-term asylum in our country, i.e., combined with obtaining a valid PESEL number. The actual number of Ukrainian citizens staying in Poland or temporarily staying after February 24, 2022, is, of course, several times higher
Addendum
In addition, Sikorski said that in the two years since Russia's full-scale invasion , Poland has provided Ukraine with 44 military aid packages totaling almost $9 billion.
For reference
PESEL is an eleven-digit numerical symbol that identifies the holder. Every citizen of Ukraine who crossed the border of Poland after February 24, 2022 in order to obtain protection from the war with the aggressor is entitled to a PESEL number and the corresponding UKR status. This gives access to special rights and benefits available to refugees in Poland.
Recall
In 2022-2023 , Ukrainians registered 48,464 individual entrepreneurs in Poland. This means that Ukrainian companies already account for more than 10% of the businesses established during this period.
