One billion allocated to prepare for the launch of the senior specialized school reform

The Cabinet of Ministers has allocated 1.2 billion hryvnias for modern laboratories and educational spaces in lyceums. Funding will be provided to pilot institutions and special schools.

The government has allocated 1.2 billion for preparations to launch specialized senior high schools, including the creation of laboratories and educational spaces in lyceums, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced on social media on Monday, UNN reports.

We are allocating 1.2 billion UAH for the creation of modern laboratories and educational spaces in lyceums that are the first to implement the reform of specialized senior high schools. This will help educational institutions prepare for the launch of the three-year specialized senior high school and create high-quality conditions for students,

As the Prime Minister indicated, lyceums piloting the specialized senior high school in natural sciences, technology, and IT fields will receive up to 10 million UAH for updating laboratories and learning spaces. Another 2 million UAH each will be received by distance-learning lyceums to create an effective digital educational environment.

"We are also updating the distribution of funds for the renovation of classrooms in basic schools (grades 5-9). We are doing this taking into account the proposals of the communities themselves. We are directing the subvention to where educational institutions have the opportunity to equip modern laboratories this year," Svyrydenko reported.

According to her, the resolution also officially confirms the right of special schools and educational-rehabilitation centers to receive funds for the renovation of basic school classrooms.

"Additionally, we have updated the distribution of funding for the equipment of educational spaces for the 'Defense of Ukraine' subject," the Prime Minister indicated.

"We are bringing the education system closer to market needs — specialists with practical knowledge and skills are in demand in the fields of engineering, technology, IT, and natural sciences," Svyrydenko noted.
