The Ombudsman's Office found information in one of the social networks about a conflict between a female employee of the National Police of Ukraine and a veteran of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The woman in police uniform parked in a space for people with disabilities, the veteran made comments to them, and a conflict ensued, said Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights. He requested the National Police to investigate the incident. This was reported by UNN.

As Lubinets wrote on Telegram, the veteran, in his words, made a remark to the driver of a car that had parked in a space for people with disabilities but did not have the appropriate sticker on the windshield. The passenger of the car, who was wearing a police uniform, provoked a conflict with the veteran by insulting him.
For this reason, the Ombudsman addressed a request to the Head of the National Police of Ukraine to impartially investigate this case, as well as to strengthen control and strict compliance with the law to prevent similar incidents in the future.
I also submitted a proposal on the expediency of conducting additional training and briefings for the National Police personnel to raise their awareness of the specifics of communication with veterans. In my opinion, this will help prevent the recurrence of such incidents and contribute to raising the level of professionalism among police officers
The Ombudsman also emphasized that such incidents can negatively affect the reputation of the National Police and reduce public confidence in law enforcement.
“I am keeping the situation under my personal control, as such incidents are absolutely unacceptable. Veterans who risked their lives for our security and freedom deserve respect and gratitude from society! Their contribution to the defense of our country is invaluable, and every effort should be made to prevent such incidents from happening again!” Lubinets summarized.
