The concentration of pollutants in the Dnipro River, where oil products leaked due to Russia's attack on the Dnipro hydroelectric power station, is decreasing. In a few days, maybe a week, the situation will return to normal. This opinion was expressed by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ruslan Strelets during a telethon, a correspondent of UNN reports.
"I can say that the relevant services are taking all possible measures to eliminate the consequences of such an enemy attack (on DniproHES - ed.). The State Ecological Inspectorate has taken relevant samples, the State Water Agency is constantly monitoring the water quality in the Dnipro not only near the hydroelectric power plant, but also downstream, because the stain formed as a result of half a ton of fuel and lubricants entering the water is moving downstream," said Strelets.
According to him, the tasks he set are being fulfilled today - first of all, to ensure that contaminated water does not get to the places where water is taken to supply the population.
"That's why we are conducting intensive monitoring, and the State Environmental Inspectorate reports daily that the concentration of such pollutants is decreasing. I am confident that in a few days, maybe a week, this situation will return to normal. If we are talking about the quality of water for the purpose of water supply and water treatment for the population, it is basically already normal. That is, there are no risks," Strelets said.
