Kosovo players walked off the field in the 93rd minute of their game against Romania after home fans reportedly chanted about Serbia refusing to recognize Kosovo's independence.
UEFA did not explain why the game was interrupted, but Kosovo players were reportedly upset to hear pro-Serb chants.
While the Romanian players remained on the field in -2C temperatures, the Kosovo players reportedly "munched on pizza in the away dressing room and refused to return." The match was eventually abandoned an hour after it was halted at 0-0.
"Unfortunately, respect was lost at the end of the match. And that's why we decided to leave the field. Then we talked to the players and the rest," said Kosovo coach Franco Foda.
"But the problem is that the situation at the stadium has not changed, and we all decided not to return to the field and not to continue the match. I am sorry because the team played a great game today," he said.
