In Kyiv, the monument to Mikhail Bulgakov, located on Andriivskyi Descent, has been dismantled. It was handed over for storage to the heir of the sculptor Mykhailo Rapai, UNN reports with reference to the Department of Cultural Heritage Protection of the Kyiv City State Administration.

Previously, the heir appealed to the interdepartmental working group on organizational and legal measures to remove commemorative objects associated with the history and culture of Russia and the USSR, requesting that her father's work be handed over to her for personal storage.

The decision to dismantle the monument from the capital's public space was made by the Kyiv City Council on December 18, 2025.
The decision to dismantle the monument was made taking into account the expert opinion of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory regarding the classification of objects dedicated to the Russian writer Mikhail Bulgakov as symbols of Russian imperial policy. The conclusion was prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Law of Ukraine "On the Condemnation and Prohibition of Propaganda of Russian Imperial Policy in Ukraine and the Decolonization of Toponymy." According to it, the figure of Bulgakov is included in the list of persons used by Russian propaganda to glorify Russian imperial policy and requires removal from the public space.
