The monument to Bulgakov on Andriyivskyy Descent was dismantled following a decision by the Kyiv City Council. The work was handed over for storage to the heir of the sculptor Mykhailo Rapay.

The decision to dismantle the monument from the capital's public space was made by the Kyiv City Council on December 18, 2025.

The decision to dismantle the monument was made taking into account the expert opinion of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory regarding the classification of objects dedicated to the Russian writer Mikhail Bulgakov as symbols of Russian imperial policy. The conclusion was prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Law of Ukraine "On the Condemnation and Prohibition of Propaganda of Russian Imperial Policy in Ukraine and the Decolonization of Toponymy." According to it, the figure of Bulgakov is included in the list of persons used by Russian propaganda to glorify Russian imperial policy and requires removal from the public space.
