A fatal traffic accident took the life of a driver and hospitalized five passengers in Volyn region this morning, the regional police department and the Patrol Police of Ukraine reported, UNN reports.

The accident occurred on the road near the village of Palche, Lutsk district.
According to preliminary information, the driver of a Mercedes Sprinter minibus lost control, causing the vehicle to slide into a ditch and collide with a tree.
"As a result of the accident, the driver died on the spot, five other people were injured, and the victims were taken to the hospital," the police said.
All relevant services are working at the scene.
Investigators initiated criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
