As of May 12, 20 cases of acute intestinal infection have been registered in a kindergarten in Lviv. This was reported by the Lviv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention, UNN reports.

It is noted that among the sick are 18 children, 2 employees of the institution, and 2 adults who had contact with the patients in family settings. 19 people are receiving inpatient treatment at the Lviv Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital, while 2 are receiving outpatient treatment. Four people have been discharged from the hospital in satisfactory condition.
According to the results of the epidemiological investigation and laboratory tests, the causative agent of the outbreak was identified as Salmonella enteritidis. The likely factor of transmission was a chicken fillet dish that was insufficiently heat-treated
It is indicated that the Center's specialists conducted a final disinfection of the premises and provided the institution with recommendations on compliance with sanitary-hygienic and anti-epidemic requirements.
