Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko stated that Minsk does not plan to send its citizens to war against Ukraine. At the same time, he accused Western countries of militarization and claimed that prolonging the war is supposedly beneficial to the "international war party," Belarusian media report, citing UNN.
According to Lukashenko, the European Union has supposedly taken a course toward militarization, and he called talk of a threat from Russia "absurd hysteria."
"Hypocritically declaring a commitment to peace, the European Union has openly taken a course toward militarization. Billions are being spent on purchasing offensive strike weapons. At the same time, absurd hysteria is being stirred up around the imaginary 'threat from the east,'" Lukashenko stated.
At the same time, he assured Belarusians that the authorities have no intention of sending them to war against Ukraine.
"I emphasize once again, dear comrades, no one will send you into this slaughter. We do not need war; it is bad that the war continues in Ukraine. We are supporters of a peaceful settlement. But, as I have already said, the international 'war party' does not want this," Lukashenko said.
