Sergei Lavrov reacted to Marco Rubio's words that no agreement was reached at the US-Russia summit in Alaska. The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that the US proposals were accepted by the Russian side.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov responded to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio's statement that no agreement was reached at the US-Russia summit in Alaska last year, calling, as quoted by Russian media, for "clarity," reports UNN.

"When my colleague Marco Rubio says that in Alaska there were only proposals and no agreement, it raises questions for me in terms of what we mean by an agreement," Lavrov said.

In Alaska, according to him, US proposals were discussed, which Russia accepted. To say that there was no agreement is "not very subtle," Lavrov stated.

The Russian Foreign Minister added that it is necessary to "bring clarity" to this entire situation, and the US statements about a desire to play a constructive role in resolving the conflict "sounds like a claim for mediation."

"Of course, we need to bring clarity to this entire situation. But the fact remains: in Alaska, US proposals were discussed, which were accepted by the Russian side," Lavrov pointed out.

Kremlin official spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that Moscow "highly appreciates" the US readiness to act as a mediator.

Addendum

The day before, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that during the meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Alaska, "a proposal was made," but no agreement was reached. Rubio added that the US remains ready to play a constructive role in ending the war.
