The state continues to support those who defend the independence and integrity of the country. The head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration Ruslan Kravchenko and Deputy Minister for Veterans Affairs Ruslan Prykhodko presented 81 cash certificates for housing to our defenders, UNN reports with reference to the Kyiv RMA.
"These are residents of the Kyiv region who were on the housing register but have not had their own homes until now. Today, I heard from many of our defenders that they can't believe they will finally have their own homes. At such moments, I am glad that we can support those who defend the country. In total, this year Kyiv region received more than UAH 1.1 billion in subventions from the state budget to purchase 478 apartments for our defenders and their families. This is twice as much as last year," said Kravchenko.
In the near future, other veterans will also receive certificates.
The head of the Kyiv RMA emphasized that support for veterans is one of the points of the Internal Resilience Plan presented by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Together with the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, the KCMA is actively implementing the veteran policy.
Veterans will choose their own housing. It can be either on the secondary or primary market, subject to its commissioning.
The Kyiv region also actively involves philanthropists in providing housing for veterans. In our region, with the support of FC Kolos Kovalivka and the Andriy Zasukha Charitable Foundation, an inclusive town for defenders with 59 houses was built. This is the first such complex in Ukraine. American philanthropist Dell Loy Hansen provided housing for veterans' families.
"I thanked all the Heroes and Heroines for their courage and self-sacrifice. We will continue to work to ensure that everyone who defends our country feels supported and has decent living conditions. Because this is not just about square meters. It is a symbol of care and gratitude for everyone who has helped Ukraine to have an independent future," he added.
In 2024, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine has allocated UAH 5.7 billion for the purchase of housing under three budget programs. This makes it possible to provide housing for nearly 2,500 war veterans and their families.
In addition, in October, the Government allocated an additional UAH 241.6 million to pay monetary compensation to 119 people with disabilities of groups I-II from among combatants in other countries and family members of fallen war veterans.
In November, the Government additionally allocated over UAH 4.1 billion for compensation for the purchase of housing for war veterans in 2024. This will ensure the payment of financial compensation for the purchase of housing for another 1,836 war veterans. These include 388 people with disabilities of groups I-II and family members of deceased war veterans, as well as 1448 internally displaced veterans.
The Ministry of Veterans Affairs allocates a portion of housing subventions to regional budgets and the budget of the city of Kyiv to pay monetary compensation for the purchase of housing to veterans and their families.
