A resident of Kyiv was sentenced to 15 years in prison for killing his friend amid a political dispute. The men were drunk. This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, UNN reports.
Following the prosecution, the Obolon District Prosecutor's Office found the 47-year-old resident of Kyiv guilty of premeditated murder and theft and sentenced him to 15 years in prison (Article 115(2), Article 185(5) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)
In February last year, the offender reportedly met the victim in a cafe where they were drinking alcohol. After the cafe closed, as a curfew was about to begin in the city, the victim invited his new acquaintance to his rented apartment.
Already in the apartment, the drunken men started talking about politics at the table. A dispute arose between them, during which the guest stabbed the host 3 times. The victim died as a result of internal injuries.
After that, the attacker took the victim's cell phone, some things from the kitchen - frying pans, knives, 2 tile grates - and fled. The man was detained.
The Obolonsky District Court agreed with the prosecutor's arguments and sentenced the defendant to 15 years in prison. The measure of restraint in the form of detention was left unchanged until the verdict enters into force.
Addendum
It is noted that the man was already serving a sentence for the murder of a woman - the attacker beat his victim with a bat and threw her into a lake. In October 2015, he was released on parole
