On November 25, 2024, the First Disciplinary Chamber of the High Council of Justice decided to temporarily suspend Judge Ivan Tulik of the Rakhiv District Court from performing his duties as a judge. This is reported by the High Council of Justice, UNN reports.

Details

This decision was made on the basis of disciplinary proceedings, in which a motion to dismiss Tulik from the position of judge was made.

According to Ukrainian law, from the moment a decision is made to impose a disciplinary sanction in the form of a dismissal motion, the judge is automatically suspended from the administration of justice until the High Council of Justice makes a final decision on his or her fate. The suspension will continue until the decision to dismiss or cancel the order of the Disciplinary Chamber is made.

According to journalist Vitaliy Glagola, the High Council of Justice made this decision because the judge had Romanian citizenship, which was confirmed by the Security Service of Ukraine.

This is not the first time Tulik has been at the center of a scandal. In 2021, he was found guilty of bribery and sentenced to six years in prison. However, the sentence was first reduced and later canceled. After that, in April 2024, Tulik returned to his duties, but now he has finally lost his position.
