American journalist Evan Hershkovich, who was sentenced to 16 years in prison in Russia for espionage and then released in a swap, has published his first investigation after returning to the United States, UNN reports citing the BBC.

Details

The investigation focuses on the FSB's Counterintelligence Operations Department, which is behind the case of Gershkovich and other defendants in espionage cases in Russia.

This unit is also preparing to exchange foreigners for Russians convicted in the West.

One of the heroes of the investigation is Dmitry Minaev, head of the FSB's counterintelligence operations department, whom the journalist met on a plane leaving Russia after 16 months behind bars.

According to the information, it was Minaev who supervised both the arrest and the subsequent exchange of the journalist.
