According to MacRumors, the iPhone was chosen as a symbol of American technological innovation of the 21st century. The smartphone contains preserved "digital artifacts" in the Notes app, which are intended to show people of the future everyday life in 2026.
The time capsule was made of special stainless steel and sealed with indium to maximally protect its contents for 250 years. In addition to the iPhone, it contains exhibits from all US states and territories, including fabric from the Wright brothers' airplane, a feather from the bald eagle "Old Abe," and a response from the artificial intelligence Claude about the future of California.
