A Chinese court has handed down a suspended death sentence to a man who rammed his car into a crowd outside an elementary school in southern China last month, injuring more than two dozen people.
A court in Changde, Hunan province, has sentenced a driver named Huang Wen to death with a two-year suspended sentence, the state-run Xinhua news agency reports .
According to Chinese law, a suspended sentence means that the punishment can be commuted to life imprisonment, provided he behaves for two years.

After the trial, the judge found that Huang Wen's behavior constituted a “crime of endangering public safety by means of dangerous methods” and that his attack on innocent elementary school students showed that he was “extremely cruel” in his decision to commit the crime.
