The pre-trial investigation against a former MP suspected of illegally receiving UAH 613,000 in compensation for renting an apartment in Kyiv has been completed. This is reported by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, UNN reports.
"On April 1, 2024, the SAPO prosecutor decided to complete the pre-trial investigation in the case against a People's Deputy of Ukraine of the VIII convocation, who currently holds a senior position in one of the district councils, suspected of illegally receiving UAH 613 thousand in compensation for renting housing in the capital," the statement said.
According to UNN's sources , this is a former MP and current head of the Odesa District Council Vitaliy Barvinenko.
On the instructions of the prosecutor, NABU detectives opened the materials for the defense to review.
Investigators found that despite having his own apartment in the capital, the MP continued to use a hotel room of the Kyiv Hotel Complex without legal grounds. As a result, from September 2016 to March 2019, he illegally received more than UAH 613 thousand in compensation for renting housing.
On February 12, the former MP was served a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - abuse of power or position.
