Experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have continued their monitoring mission at the transmission system operator's substations, which are critical for the operation of Ukrainian nuclear power plants, the Ministry of Energy reports, UNN.

The need for the next IAEA mission to nuclear power plants of importance was discussed by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko and the IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi during an extraordinary meeting of the Agency's Board of Governors held at the initiative of Ukraine.
At the same time, a Ukrainian resolution was adopted on the inadmissibility of Russian attacks on infrastructure critical to nuclear power plant operations.
Just last week, the IAEA Board of Governors, at an extraordinary meeting initiated by Ukraine, adopted a Ukrainian resolution on the inadmissibility of Russian attacks on critical infrastructure for nuclear power plants. However, the enemy continues its aggression and mercilessly attacks, including substations that are critical for the operation of nuclear generation. I am grateful to Rafael Grossi and the Agency's experts for their effective cooperation and the decision to extend the mission. Together, we must prevent the worst-case scenarios for nuclear and radiation safety to which Russia exposes us from materializing

On December 12, the IAEA Board of Governors adopted a resolution on the protection of energy infrastructure of nuclear power plants. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry welcomed the document, which recognizes attacks on power substations as a threat to nuclear safety.
