Prosecutors of the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office sent to court an indictment against the former mayor of Sviatohirsk on the facts of high treason and collaboration (part 2 of article 111, part 5 of article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) .
Details
The pre-trial investigation reportedly found that in the summer of 2022, Russian army troops took temporary control of Sviatohirsk. Having betrayed his country, the mayor welcomed the enemy and accepted the offer of the leader of the fake "DNR" to take the position of the so-called head of the city's "administration".
"Pleased with his new appointment, the 'mayor' followed the instructions of the Kremlin puppets and directed the activities of the 'city administration'. Demonstrating his anti-Ukrainian position to the occupiers in every possible way, the former mayor distributed an appeal in the media expressing personal support and gratitude to the Russian Armed Forces," the prosecutor's office said.
The prosecutor's office reports that the "official" also accused the current Ukrainian government of "illegal actions against the population" and Ukrainian defenders of alleged looting and deliberate arson of the Sviatohirsk Lavra hermitage. In September 2022, the Armed Forces of Ukraine drove the occupiers out of the city and thus ended the "lightning-fast" career of the Gauleiter, who fled with the enemy.
The former head is currently on the wanted list. He faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
In addition, the prosecutor's office reminded that the indictment against the person is currently pending in court on the facts of embezzlement of other people's property by abuse of office and issuance of knowingly false official documents by an official (parts 2, 4, 5 of Article 191, parts 1, 2 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). As part of the criminal investigation, investigators of the State Bureau of Investigation in Kramatorsk seized the former mayor's property worth over UAH 8 million and transferred it to the management of the ARMA.
