The government has made changes to the procedure for paying one-time financial assistance to the families of servicemen who went missing or were declared dead. This was announced by the government's representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk , on Telegram, UNN reports.

Melnychuk informs that according to the amendments, the day of the right to receive a one-time financial assistance in the event of the death of a serviceman, person liable for military service and reservist called up for training (or check-up) and special training or for service in the military reserve, and who went missing under special circumstances or was declared missing - from the date of entry into force of a court decision declaring a serviceman, person liable for military service or a reservist called up for training (or check-up) and special training or for service in the military reserve dead.
According to MP Oleksiy Honcharenko, relatives of servicemen who are entitled to a one-time financial assistance can exercise this right within three years from the date of the right.
Currently, the date of the right to death benefits is determined by the death certificate, the MP said. If a soldier goes missing and is later declared dead by a court (after a three-year period), his family loses the right to financial assistance, as the period is calculated from the date of death in the certificate, not from the court decision.
Reportedly, the amendments propose to calculate the three-year period from the date of entry into force of the court decision declaring the serviceman dead. This will ensure that families do not lose their right to assistance due to a missed deadline. It is also proposed to give persons with group I disabilities the opportunity to receive a one-time allowance out of turn.
